Most Popular Races/Professions In Guild Wars 2?
So yeah... I think the most popular race will be the humans as always. XD Asura will be the least because they get no love. :[
And I think Warriors, Monks, and Eles will be the most played classes like they are now. <3 I see Rangers and Paragons at the bottom because they aren't loved (like Asura). </3
EDIT:
professions:
1. warrior
2. monk
3. elementalist
4. necromencer
5. assassin
6. dervish
7. ritualist
8. ranger
9. paragon
10. mesmer
races:
1. human
2. sylvari
3. norn
4. charr
5. asura

Actually, I made a ranger. I reallylike him, He's a Ranger/Ele. The races I agree with you on... humans do seem to be most likely. In all honesty, I love most of the professions in this game... I want to check to see if they will be adding any more professions are keeping the same ones. Either way... I can't wait

definitely making a human (descendent) and a Sylvari. just because i love spellcasting.
and maybe i'll find something for w/e a paragon is going to be in gw2.
most popular profession in gw would have to be:
eles. they're easy to pick up and utilize, but to play them to their potential takes some work too.

Well, Charr ele for me. I like charr, they have warbands, that's naturally cool.
Also, Sylvari ranger.
I think the popularity of the proffessions would look something like this:
(PvE)- Warrior
- Monk
- Elementalist
- Necromencer
- Ranger
- Dervish
- Ritualist
- Paragon
- Assassin
- Mesmer
I would say that most people have a Ranger, so I think you were a little bit out placing them where you did
I dislike Asura, they remind me of grumpy Gnomes.
I will also play a human, as it will be my mains' descendant!

Um ... did I miss the announcement where ANet revealed the professions of GW2? I thought that the entire system was being reworked so it would be a moot point to rank GW1 professions by popularity in GW2.
Concerning races, it will certainly depend on racial abilities but my impression is that many GW1 players will choose something else than humans just because that was the only choice in the original. Most likely Norns will be all the rage and asurans as overlooked as mesmers are in GW1.

You're right, they said it would be different in GW2, so we'll have to wait and see what the proffesions are before ranking them..
And I agree that Asurans will be almost completely overlooked, but I see the Charr being the big "bad ass" race that everyone wants to play as. I'll certainly be making a human as my main, but I really can't wait to play as the Char as well.

I agree with this completely. Different classes will most likely have different abilities. I'd be sorely disappointed if they never. On that basis, I think for pure tanking ability a Norn will be favoured in many groups, although an effective terra style magic defence could be possible with a race like the Sylvari.
Truth is, we won't know 'til we're made aware of such traits and an idea of what skills will be.
On a side note, I also want to make a Charr caster. They just look awesome in GW1 when you're with the warband so I can only imagine they'd look even better in GW2.

Humans will remain the most popular, as the people will still want to dance naked in the popular outposts on Saturday nights.
Sylvari will be insanely popular at first, as they will be completely new, and everyone will want to try them. But their popularity will drop a bit after a few months, when the novelty wears off. How popular they stay will depend on how skimpy their armor will be.
Charr will be third. Who doesn't like Charr?
Norn will be next, as they can change into big teddybears.
Asura will be last. As they are ugly.
Races:
1. Human
2. Sylvari
3. Charr
4. Norn
5. Asura
Most of the "GW1 vets" will start with one of the "easiest" professions, to get as far as they can, as fast as they can (Warrior, Ele, Necro).
^my speculation

Anything that can be successfully min/maxed is going to be extremely popular once the unwashed masses turn to wiki rather than learning.

I'll probably be Elementalist (Mage/Warlock/...) again because I like to attack with powerful spells. Not too sure about race. Race may become Norn, stay Human or maybe Sylvari.
